The new ring collection from TFC and the house of Bahrami
March 19, 2009

TFC came to the aid of British fashion when designer Pandora Bahrami required some retaining rings for a dress she was designing.
The dress a combination of knitted and crocheted design incorporated the rings as part of designer Pandora’s vision of a fusion of her half- Iranian, half British background. Pandora is using her inspiration to explore the way coins and discs were used in traditional Iranian clothing and sought a modern equivalent as a substitute. The dress reflects the contrast between the two cultures and is far removed from TFC’s usual orders.
“I have looked at the idea and sense of displacement that Iranians who live in the UK experience and I have translated into my designs by taking things like the metal rings out of context, and combining them with my knit and crochet.” Pandora said. “Whilst trying to source the correct type of rings for the dress I found the TFC website and approached them. They have been really helpful and supportive, even though I am sure this is not the type of everyday request they receive.”
TFC Europe Ltd, Technical Director, Brian Goode commented on the request. “I am never surprised at the versatility and range of uses for our products. They have been used attached to Mini Coopers flying down the Lillehammer ski slope in Norway and on the Mars Lander probe touching down on the surface of the Red planet, so to find them used in a dress while unusual doesn’t surprise me. I am glad we could help Ms. Bahrami with her design and hope that she becomes a force in fashion design.”
